Updates from the Presbytery
The next Monmouth Presbytery Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28, 2010.
PLEASE NOTE that there will be a Pre-Meeting from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a visit from Vince Patton, PC (USA) Executive Director of Communications, Church Relations and Staff Services, Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Louisville, Kentucky.
The regular meeting starts at 7:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Lincroft, Everett Road & West Front Street, Lincroft, NJ 07738, 732-741-8921.
Please start submitting the materials you would like included in either the Docket or Packet. If I don’t receive your materials by the DEADLINE (Monday, September 20th), please be prepared to bring 120 copies to the meeting for distribution. Also, if you want to be excused from the Presbytery Meeting, please let me know by Monday, September 27th.

Office of Public Witness Joins with the Presbyterian Network to End Homelessness The Presbyterian Network to End Homelessness (PNTEH) and the Presbyterian Office of Public Witness in Washington, DC, have announced a partnership focused on the PC(USA)’s mission effort to end homelessness in the U.S.
Pakistan Flood Response: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is working with ecumenical partners to respond to the disaster in Pakistan. One Great Hour of Sharing funds are helping with the provision of the basics -
Celebrate Evangelism Sunday, September 26 – Get materials for Evangelism Sunday, September 26, 2010. Follow the timeline for the Evangelism Sunday campaign “that they may know… Christ and our lives.” Develop prayer and Servant Saturday leadership teams now. Show Skateboarding Evangelism and Shared Christmas Evangelism as examples of how Christ is made known as “churches engage their communities” with God’s love.
A new chapter in World Mission – At the World Mission Luncheon at the General Assembly Hunter Farrell, director of Presbyterian World Mission, said the newest chapter in the denomination’s mission “love story” that began in 1837 is the formation of “communities of mission practice.”
Join a webinar on Earth Care congregations and Energy Star – PC(USA) Congregations that are interested in working on earth care are invited to participate in a webinar from PC(USA) Environmental Ministries and ENERGY STAR for Congregations called “Earth Care Congregations and How ENERGY STAR Can Help” on Wednesday, October 6 from 3-4 p.m. Eastern.

Register for the Congregational Transformation Conference-October 18-22
Two hundred participants from churches in southwestern United States and in Mexico met in May to discuss border and immigration issues in a conference titled “Crossing Borders, Encountering God.”
Seeking God’s Grace for the Gulf The National Council of Churches and its 36 member communions believe that prayer, reflection and healing are part of the long-term recovery that is vital for the Gulf. To begin this process, the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program is hosting a national event “Seeking God’s Grace for the Gulf: A Day of Worship, Reflection and Healing” on Sunday, October 3 and invites you and your congregation to join them by hosting a worship service, candle light vigil or other event that lifts up the needs of those in the Gulf.
